I’m Sally, the maker behind ompompom, a contemporary knitwear label focused on bold colour, graphic shapes and tactile design. With a background in fashion and textiles, I create felted knitwear that sits between function and art — expressive, wearable pieces designed to be both warm and visually striking.
My range includes felted lambswool coats and jackets, tank tops, cropped jackets, hats, mittens and hot water bottle covers. Each piece is machine-knitted and hand-finished in my garden studio in Hastings, using a distinctive felting and pressing process that gives the work its structure, surface and graphic identity.
Launched just before lockdown, ompompom has evolved into a thoughtful, small-scale practice shaped around family life and living with arthritis. For the festival, I would bring a strong, colour-led edit of contemporary knitwear that celebrates material, making and individuality.

ompompom is the name of my business offering a bespoke garment for you from a range of 6 designs in either a jumper, jacket, or coatigan. You can find the 6 patterns on my website under the bespoke page. The 6 designs on the page in order are, Anouk ( a geometric Scandinavian Bauhas design in 4 - 9 colours), Kees ( influenced from shapes seen from the sea on Hastings beach, bouys, fish boxes, boats and rescue rings dinks of these shapes may be your chosn colours) Gudrun ( a more organic painterly design in 3-5 colours) Otti ( pops of colours in cubes or short stripes changing to offer a sliding shade of graphic colour) , Pops ( contrast dots of fun and joy) and Shona ( an exaggerated tideline with a big circle and rectangle in contrast colours)
All my designs can be created in the garment style you would like in your colour choice. A lot of my colours can be seen in my hot water bottle covers which I create after colour sampling.
I am happy to take you into my studio via video wher I can talk you through my designs and colours. I can then draft up your colourway and I send it to you in an email before knitting.
I am happy to take paymets for garments in installments over a period of time.
